Equipment System Integration

Unity's state-of-the-art electronic system controller is uniquely designed to operate single, duplex, triple, and quad tank systems in a variety of operating modes.

1. Diaphragm Valves

The Unity Series Automatic Control Valve offers an unequaled combination of simplicity, reliability, performance, and economy. It is a single chamber diaphragm operated control valve in globe or angle pattern body with advanced features including:

  • A hydrodynamically designed valve body for exceptionally high flow capacity and very low head loss.
  • A perfectly balanced diaphragm to eliminate distortion and allow smooth and accurate control.
  • Progressive dynamic guidance for extremely stable control during shut-off and pressure regulation.
  • The simplest diaphragm valve internals on the market... one diaphragm and one spring.
  • Rugged, high quality construction to ensure long trouble free service life.
  • Top entry design for easy in-line maintenance.
  • Iron bodied and internally lined with a proprietary fusion-bonded polyester for corrosion resistance.
  • Valves meet all ASME, ANSI, and AWWA requirements for hydraulic control valves.
  • Valves and adjacent piping have grooved ends for easy removal.

2. Unity Controller

The Unity volume initiated programmable controller reduces equipment operating cost by initiating resin regeneration or filter backwash cycle only when it's needed. The controller uses a unique "look ahed" feature that initiates cycles based on accumulated data. If water usage varies for any reason, it automatically adjusts to recharge the system.

The fully programmable, microprocessor based control has a simple 4 button keypad to program operating data.

Demand Initiated Operation

The controller performs all necessary calculations and will retain its memory in case of a short-term power loss. The EEPROM chip retains all configurations and historical data, so you never lose a program.

The Unity Control monitors itself, displaying error codes on the large backlighted LCD display and sounding an alarm. Error data is captured to assist the self-diagnostic software in troubleshooting the problem.

On-line Monitoring Software

The data can also be transmitted to a remote computer. Unity Analysis Software provides on-line problem detection and suggests solutions to prevent downtime, minimize maintenance and repairs, and determine exact water usage to optimize plant efficiency.

3. Process Tank Features

Standard Carbon Steel Tanks

  • NSF listed epoxy lining
  • Large 12" X 16" manways

Unity steel tanks are fabricated under stringent quality standards and are available in accordance with ASME standards. Large elliptical manways and 6" X 8" elliptical handholes are standard. Low tank placement on capped angle iron legs keeps overall height to a minimum.

Fiberglass Tanks

  • NSF listed
  • Polyglass®
  • Randomglass®

Polyglass® and Randomglass® tanks are constructed of noncorroding materials and are available fabricated in accordance with ASME standards. Most industrial tanks have a tripod base which allows access to the tank bottom.

4. Distribution System

The PoleStar™ hub and lateral distribution system features precision molded polypropylene construction for durability. With or without our Silica gravel, .008" v-slot screen openings retain resin and increase velocity of water at slot to promote self-cleaning action during backwash. Channeling in bed is reduced with pipe core design that distributes water throughout the entire length of the lateral for uniform laminar flow.

Backwash Flow Control

To ensure against fouled media beds or the loss of resin during backwash, Unity systems incorporate a self-adjusting drain line flow controller. The design allows for flow regulation even in the case of varying feed pressure. Although preset at the factory, the operator is still allowed the flexibility to change the flow designation in the field without the use of special tools or instruments. Easy-to-clean with no moving parts makes the Unity flow controller the logical choice.

Brine Tank Assemblies

  • Durable rotationally molded polyethylene and fiberglass tanks
  • High capacity wet or dry salt storage
  • Positive low level shut-off brine valves
  • High refill and draw rates

Flow Sensors

  • Easily replaceable
  • High resolution
  • Low power
  • Flow rates as low was 0.3 ft/s
  • Open collector output
  • No pressure drop

Unity Options

Unity Service

Unity Equipment Systems, Inc., brings considerable expertise to your water filtration needs. Our sales representatives are dedicated professionals who have been serving satisfied commercial and industrial users for over 30 years.

For Architects and Engineers

Unity makes timesaving pre-written or custom written specifications available to architects and engineers involved in new construction. Our representatives will work with you to tailor a specification specifically to your project. You benefit from having clearly defined specifications. This will avoid time wasting phone calls about the intent of the specification resulting in the elimination of the need to re-bid.

For End Users

Unity representatives have the expertise to choose the proper water filtration system for your application. Unity has a wide range of treatment technologies to choose from and is able to select the right one for the problem. All requirements will be considered... floor space, ceiling height, door openings, etc.

Unity Consulting services

For water treatment projects requiring the integration of several types of water treatment or treatment methodologies not furnished by Unity Equipment Systems, Inc., we offer the service of our own Unity Consulting Engineer who will plan your complete water system, even including products not of our own manufacture.

Pilot Testing

In some cases a "pilot" study needs to be done to verify a treatment efficacy. Our technical representative can present a plan for this at the same time as proposing a completed system to you.

Water Analysis

Unity can provide a complete mineral analysis, or a mineral analysis plus organics, including petroleum by-products, pesticides, and herbicides.

Installation

Unity representatives have qualified installation personnel to install whatever treatment system is chosen. Remember that there is also the option of purchasing a skid-mounted system which is fully prepiped and prewired.

Start-up Service

All Unity field personnel are factory trained and experienced at start-up services and at training your operating staff.

Service and Maintenance

The best way to assure that your Unity water treatment products will achieve their optimum performance and maximum life is to have a maintenance contract with a Unity distributor. Unity Product Line

Water Softeners

Standard Unity softeners are available in a wide range of sizes up to 3,000,000 grain capacity and in pipe sizes up through 4".

Water Filters:

  • Fine sediment and turbidity filters utilize a layered filters utilize a layered filter bed called Multimedia. The filter bed is graded with the coarsest layer on trop and the finest layer on the bottom. This technique allows higher filtration rates and finer filtration.
  • Coarse sediment above about 40 microns can easily be removed with our Aluminum Silicate filters. These granules are irregularly shaped and have a low density (unlike sand) and can be backwashed with lower rates than the above Multimedia and can be used where there is a limited backwash rate available.
  • Iron and manganese filters are available using a variety of techniques such as KMnO4 regenerated manganese greensand or MTM™ (oxidizing and filtering); or catalytic Birm™ (non-regenerating).
  • Chlorine, taste and odor, and organics including pesticides and herbicides are efficiently removed with out own Unity Activated Carbon.
  • Chloramine and hydrogen sulfide filters are available using a relatively newer technology called catalytic Centaur™ activate carbon.

Acid Neutralization

Unity has filter-like units which are designed for the neutralization of corrosive acidic water and for the addition of alkalinity. Chemical feed systems can also be furnished for the same purpose. Other problems which can be corrected by pH elevation are red water and the leaching of lead and copper from plumbing systems.

Dealkalization

Unity has considerable experience with the use of anion exchange dealkalizers for boiler pretreatment. By removing carbonate based alkalinity, the formation of carbonic acid is reduced, which is especially essential for condensate return lines.

Deionization

Unity two-column deionizers are available up to 40 gpm and can be furnished in tandem so that there is 24-hour deionized water.

Reverse Osmosis

For water requiring a 95-98% mineral reduction, Unity URO systems can provide up to a 75% recovery of feedwater at sizes up to 104 gpm.

Nitrate and Sulfate Removers

These units are used for reducing ground water nitrate and sulfate levels. The U.S.E.P.A. has set a maximum limit for nitrate at 10 ppm. High sulfate levels have an objectionable taste and have a cathartic effect on persons unaccustomed to drinking them.
